Sherlock – The Six Thatchers Review Upodcast

Hot on the trail of the BBC’s series (no seasons please, we’re British) four opener, Upodcast takes a deep dive into the first episode.  Will Watson and Holmes get it on?  What the hell happened during the one-off Christmas special and how will Holmes talk his way out of murdering someone in cold blood?  Three small questions, among the many others that we’ve pondered since the last episode and they all get answered thankfully.  For this and more, plus our looking forward to the next two episodes, take a listen; we’ll see you again after episodes 2 and 3!

You can listen/download/stream the episode below.

Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon talk Dilwale with Upodcast

Rohit Shetty’s big release, Dilwale,  is just over a week away so ShahRukh Khan, Kajol, Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan were in town for a press conference.

Upodcast had the change to sit down with Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon and ask the questions that only a nerdy podcast like ours dares ask. (Like debating which Star Wars character Kriti Sanon is Chewbacca or R2D2)

The video of our interview is below but the podcast gives you a bit more behind the scenes gossip as well as the 5 things we learnt segment which quite a few of you like listening to.

Do give us a shout or RT or like if you’re enjoying the interview!

Dilwale is a family entertainer with a perfect blend of action, romance and comedy. The film is produced by Red Chillies Entertainments in association with Rohit Shetty Productions. The film will release on December18th 2015.

You can find our Student of the Year interview by clicking here!

After the press conference the stars headed over to Feltham for a meet and greet and here is some of the craziness that ensued:

BIG BIG BIG thanks to our awesome Twitter Friend @JessicaSisk for all the help on the video editing, we were lost without her! Give her a shout on twitter if you liked the video

The Empire Strikes Back as a Silent Movie

I know you’re supposed to hate George Lucas for raping our collective childhood by making the Ewoks blink and other such nonsense but unfortunately I can’t do that. I still love the Star Wars trilogy and maybe don’t even hate the prequels as much as everyone else did. You are very much welcome  revoke my geek membership.

Since it’s a slow news day I thought I would post this clip of one of the most epic scenes in film history, as a silent movie.

It still works amazingly well and doesn’t it want to revisit the trilogy?

You can see a lot of George Lucas’ influences a lot clearer when watching it in black and white.

Star Wars: episode i…Pad

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, Adam Buxton was creating this amusing take on what Han, Luke, Chewie and the others would have made of the iPad

Kudos to Adam Buxton for this and note the Mac start-up sound at the beginning…

Adidas: Star Wars Celebrity Cantina

With the Football world cup just around the corners a lot of brands are upping their advertisement coverage. Living in England , we get inundated by cheap gimmicky ads with C-level footballers (I am talking to you Mars) so it’s quite refreshing when Adidas manages to hit the right tone of geekiness and celebrity appearnace withouth loosing “cool points”. Here’s the latest Star Wars ad inspired by the Cantina scene featuring Snoop Dogg, Daft Punk, Jay Baruchel, one of the Gallaghers and David Beckham. (or as I like calling him, Beckman) Check out the ad after the jump: Read More

Soundtrack to our lives: IAM, Gods of French Rap

In this new segment to our site we will highlight some of the Music Albums or Artists that had a major impact on our lives.

Imperial Asiatiques Men or Invasion Arrivée de Mars was known to most French rap fans as IAM. They first formed in 1989 but after a few minor hits like Bad Boys de Marseille and Je dans le Mia they hit the big time and gained international recognition with Ecole du Micro d’argent an album inspired by the unique mix of Asian Martial arts, Islamic teachings, Egyptian history and Star Wars which went on to become one of the best selling French albums ever.

IAM has always been very vocal in their criticism of French government and their treatment of immigrants and the racism and socio political challenges they face because of  that they had a die-hard following of fans of which I am one espcially growing up. Since the days IAM and NTM (their contemporary rivals) the face of Hip Hop has changed and I do sometimes wonder what the state of Nicolas Sarkozy‘s France would be if IAM had the force behind them as they earlier in their career.

Like their American counterpart the Wu-tang Clan the group the individual members of the group were able to etch out solo careers with varying degree of success with Akhenaton and Shurik’n standing out. (Although you can never dismiss the rest of the gang most notably Freeman and DJ KheopsSad Hill)

But the real magic happened whenever they came back together as a group. They’re latest album was Saison 5 which you can listen to on their official website. IAM went on to have a huge influence on fashion , language and music production in France and Europe. There hasn’t been influential, intelligent and politically aware  group like them since.

In the words of Trevor Nelson IAM: The Upodcast team salutes you!

Demain C’est Loin: sheer poetry, especially Akhenaton final verse

Bad boys de marseille: Their first breakout hit

Ecole du micro d’argent

Samourai, Shurik’ns massive solo Track

This one wasn’t an IAM track but was produced by Akhenaton for his movie Comme un Aimant
