Forget about the M Night Shyamalan movie, the animated series The Last Airbender was probably one of the best shows on TV. It managed to satisfyingly mix an epic yet heartfelt storyline with some great martial arts on par with any hero’s journey but since it was a Nickelodeon show, not everyone gave it it’s due.
When they announced that there was going to be a sequel or continuation, we were slightly worried as you tend to get defensive of any property that you hold so close to your heart.
But last weekend at Comic-Con in San Diego, the first trailer has been released and frannkly it look spectacular.
We follow the Korra, a southern tribe water bender and Avatar immediately after Aang, who went on to create a whole city with Prince Zuko which we get to see quite a lot of in the trailer.
Clearly Korra is not as soft spoken and lost as Aang was at the beginning of the first series and it’s great to see a female character kick some ass. Just listening to the drums of that backgrounds core is giving us goosebumps.
The Martial Arts look better and so does the animation. I am sure this will be an awesome show and if you haven’t watched the previous series, now is your chance to catch up.
There is no date scheduled for the new season of the Last Airbender.
