Amy Jackson UPodcast for Ekk tha Deewana

  • by

Today we have a Podcast interview with the lovely Amy Jackson, award winning (runner-up miss Britain and miss Liverpool 2010) British model now making her Bollywood debut in Ekk Tha Deewana with Prateik, releasing the 17th of February.

We speak about how welcoming Bollywood has been to her especially being a non indian and by some of the other actresses and the differences between working in the South Indian and Hindi Film industry. Amy was very gracious with her time, lovely to speak with and has the cutest pronunciation of the word “Chennai”

We will be posting a chat we did with her co-star and close personal friend Prateik very soon, so keep your eyes out or subscribe in iTunes (click here) so you don’t miss any of our exclusive podcast interviews! ( and while you are there, leave us a review please!)

Here’s the trailer:

I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to catch her in theaters on 17th of February!

  1. Omg a white woman playing an Indian and darkening her skin to look like one?? What is this!? I’m not hating on her for being in bollywood she can play roles like Alice in Rang De Basanti but her role in Ek Deewana Tha was messed up. Just like your question about the Deepikas and Priyankas are so awful because you know they are girls and we are design to hate each other unlike guys who get along with everyone. Wow…
I like Ms.Jackson in Madrasapattinam and she seems like a nice girl your questions were just so unprofessional.

    1. Girls are designed to hate each other and Amy Jackson can play one role but not another? I feel these prejudices are a lot more awful. Would that mean that any Indian actor can only play a doctor, call centre assistant or taxi driver in Hollywood?
Our aim is to ask questions and have chats other “professional” journalists don’t ask. If you want to hear the same questions I’m sure there are enough interview on the net. We don’t play it safe and get to the core. In any case, thanks for listening and the comment.

      1. I was being sarcastic mate. Did you not see the part on how I said it was messed up for you to say that Deepikas and Priyankas are mean?? Messed up as in wrong of you to just assume that the actress in Bollywood are mean girls. I can’t see someone going to Ranbir so do you get along with the Hrithiks and Imran of the industry? Her character in Ek Deewana Tha was someone who speaks Hindi. Amy had to get dubbed. Do Indians actor in Hollywood get dubbed when they get cast in movies because they can’t speak…

        1. English? Why are girls like Amy Jackson playing roles in which they are required to be a race they are not and speak a language they don’t know?

        2. Riiiiight, Sarcasm translates REALLLY well online (see that was sarcastic). I inherently don’t agree with your point that you need people from the same race to play certain roles, to me that is a very regressive way of thinking. You were speaking about skin color and not accents, or dubbing so i don’t understand why you are now adding dubbing to your argument when that is something that is the directors/producers choice? And I think Amy mentioned she did some dubbing for some of her movies too, this is her first movie in Bollywood, even Rani Mukherjee was dubbed in some of her first movies. If you feels only indian should get roles in Indian movies, then we will unfortunately never see eye to eye my friend. Speaking about rivalry, have you never read Bollywood news items? The only thing they talk about is rivalry, I was speaking to Amy about her welcome as an outside and newcomer, and looking at your comment, it just solidifies the question and her answer.

          1. The darkening of her skin just seems so blackfaceish to me. I think that question bother me a lot because everywhere Nargis F goes they ask her about the actress in bollywood. True it really is the producers or directors choice and yeah it is a really regressive way of thinking on my part mate I bet its the same thinking that’s why hollywood casting is not more diverse. (Not being sarcastic). Best of her luck to her.
