In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might, Beware my power… Green Lantern‘s light! The trailer for the Green Lantern has just hit the net.
DC‘s third most popular superhero (after Superman and Batman) starring Ryan Reynolds, Mark Strong, Tim Robbins and ‘Gossip Girl’ Blake Lively directed by Martin Campbell is coming to our screens next year! Is it time to charge up our power rings and take our Lantern Oaths? Check out the trailer after the jump!
The trailer is a mixed bag, even to the point that the Upodcast team doesn’t agree if we should skip or book our tickets now (but when do we ever agree on anything).
They set up the storyline of a cocky airforce pilot and his ‘quest’ . Only at the half way mark do we see the green DC logo appear and the superpowered elements start.
The Green Lantern has always been a tough sell. The character isn’t the most recognizable compared to Supes and the Dark Knight and since most of the action happens in space with alien beings, just isn’t as grounded in ‘reality’. This was probably also the reason for the heavy CGI use even to the point that Ryan Reynolds suits is completely computer generated.
But I have faith in Martin Campbell as a director (he managed to reboot James Bond twice-Goldeneye and Casino Royale) and love the character and cast involved. The special effect might be rough but since the movie comes out in summer of 2011, they still have time to polish it all up!
