Ishaqzaade
Although Ishaqzaade will be featured on a few other lists of ours this year, it still deserves a 2nd watch just for the debut of Arjun Kapoor, the amazing Parineti Chopra and the music of Amit Trivedi.
A tale of star crossed lovers set against a background of rural village politics, it has some real potential and some great moments only to be let down hackeneyed climax and ridiculous decision about Parineeti’s character in the 2nd half. Arjun might have run away with most of the accolades but we root for Zoya, even when she makes decisions that the film never really explains well enough.
Worth a rewatch just for “Chokra Jawaan” and Vishal Dadlani’s awesome powerhouse vocals as well as one of the best item songs of the year “Challa”.
Also great if you want to learn some new gaalis.
